DANISH COAST

Denmark has wonderful beaches open to all. Nowhere in the nation are you ever more than 50km from the coast. In Denmark, you’ll find sandy
beaches, national parks and rocky cliffs. Denmark's extensive coastline is due to its numerous islands and winding shores, giving it a high coastline-to-land-area ratio. The total length of this coastline is approximately 7,400 kilometers.
The North Sea is an experience in itself, both in summer and winter. The Danish North Sea coast stretches from the Danish Wadden Sea in the south to Grenen, Denmark's northernmost point. Seemingly endless sandy beaches, picturesque dune areas, and cliffs characterize the coast. The North Sea coast is home to many holiday homes in some of Denmark's most popular holiday destinations.
The following pictures show some impressions of my holiday in Denmark in September 2021, specifically on the west coast of Jutland.

THE COAST OF WEST JUTLAND

Picturesque harbors, old manor houses, countless small churches, and, time and again, lighthouses – the west coast of Denmark is characterized by idyllic postcard motifs that are among its most popular attractions. The beautiful sandy beaches, fjords, and dunes are one reason why I keep coming back. The West Jutland Geopark was added to the UNESCO Global Geoparks list in 2021. This places particular emphasis on the landscape of West Jutland, which was created by ice, water, wind, and humans. The West Coast Trail (Vestkyststien), one of the longest signposted cycle routes in the world, runs along the entire west coast of Denmark. All photos were taken near Lemvig in 2021.

 JETSAM AND FLOTSAM

The most beautiful and bizarre objects and animals wash up on the Danish North Sea coast. I discovered something new on the beach almost every morning. I'd like to share some of my discoveries with you here.

 SMALL PORTS AND SIGHTS

Here are some impressions from the Danish countryside beyond the Baltic Sea. Starting with the idyllic holiday home settlement of Vejlby Klit shrouded in morning mist, the red lighthouse Bovbjerg Lighthouse, the snail shell in Thyborøn, two upturned boats on the grounds of the Sea War Museum Jutland. The boats are being converted into a shop, and a few photos from one of Denmark's countless small harbors.
There's more to discover in Denmark. Below you'll find links to two photo galleries I've created here on my website.

Skagerrak Memorial

Those who remained at sea do not have a cemetery. But here in Denmark, the victims of the greatest sea battle are remembered with this memorial site.

Bunker in Denmark

The gray bunkers had been lying in the sand along the Danish west coast for more than 70 years. Erected after 1942 as part of the so-called Atlantic Wall during World War II, they are a symbol of the German occupation in Denmark
