Fauna

FAUNA

The term fauna comes from Latin and is derived from the name of the Roman goddess Fauna, the nature and forest goddess.
Fauna (also animal world) denotes the totality of all naturally occurring animals in an area or, in the narrower sense, all animal species in this area.
It is not known exactly how many different animal species there are in the world. There are probably around eight million - only a fraction has been discovered.

Fox cubs

For several days I observed a fox family on a German shepherd training ground. On the third day the rain finally stopped and I was able to take these photos.  I hope you have as much fun looking at the photos as I do.

Waterfowl

Waterfowl are birds that have their habitat on and near the water. There are the most different kinds of birds that belong to the waterfowl. Most waterfowl have webbed toes. Many water birds are migratory birds, and you can see them here in Germany as winter guests.

Mammals
Whether small like the dormouse or big and majestic like the elk: the mammal family is as diverse as it is multifaceted, active in secret or easy to observe during the day, roaming around as a hunter or even hunted.
